The presidential and national assembly election is scheduled for 16 January 2027 , and the central question before Nigerians will increasingly move beyond who has the strongest political structure to who can deliver a more prosperous country. The battle will be fought on two interconnected fronts: the macroeconomic battle over inflation, exchange rates, public debt, revenue, investment and economic growth, and the microeconomic battle over food prices, wages, jobs, transportation, housing, electricity and the survival of households and businesses.   To describe God as a researcher may sound controversial, unconventional, perhaps even provocative. After all, research is commonly associated with human limitations. We research because we do not know. We investigate because we seek answers. We experiment because certainty escapes us. God, on the other hand, is omniscient. He knows all things. Why, then, would anyone suggest that God is a researcher? The answer lies not in implying that God searches for knowledge He lacks, but in recognizing that the God revealed in Scripture consistently demonstrates the principles that define good research: observation, investigation, evidence, process, evaluation, documentation, and purposeful action. Throughout the Bible, God models a methodical approach that should inspire humanity to embrace inquiry rather than ignorance. While opinions have sharply divided along emotional, political, and social lines, the situation raises a more fundamental question: where should society draw the line between legitimate law enforcement and the protection of citizens' rights? The answer lies neither in the wholesale condemnation of the EFCC nor in the blanket defence of every young person caught in its operations. It championed economic integration, promoted democratic governance, facilitated the free movement of people, and earned global recognition for its peacekeeping interventions in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau, and The Gambia. For decades, ECOWAS stood as a symbol of regional solidarity and collective action. Today, however, that reputation has been severely tested. Military takeovers in Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea, and Niger have exposed deep cracks in the regional body. This is why research should not be confined to universities, laboratories, or academic journals. Research is a way of thinking—a disciplined approach to understanding reality before acting upon it. If individuals, institutions, and nations consistently viewed life through the lens of research, our decisions would be more informed, our resources better utilized, and our progress more sustainable. Research is fundamentally the pursuit of truth through systematic inquiry.
