To describe God as a researcher may sound controversial, unconventional, perhaps even provocative. After all, research is commonly associated with human limitations. We research because we do not know. We investigate because we seek answers. We experiment because certainty escapes us. God, on the other hand, is omniscient. He knows all things. Why, then, would anyone suggest that God is a researcher? The answer lies not in implying that God searches for knowledge He lacks, but in recognizing that the God revealed in Scripture consistently demonstrates the principles that define good research: observation, investigation, evidence, process, evaluation, documentation, and purposeful action. Throughout the Bible, God models a methodical approach that should inspire humanity to embrace inquiry rather than ignorance.
